About

Hello, my name is Connie and it has long been my dream to travel the globe and experience new cultures while positively impacting the world and the people around me. I made the decision at the end of 2008 to leave my promising career with an international consulting firm and amazing apartment in New York City, and haven't looked back since! I'm currently embarking on a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants-while-I-slowly-meander-around-the-world journey that can only reaffirm my belief in humanity and all the good that this world holds. I only hope that I can inspire some good of my own along the way!

Traveling with only my wits, backpack, ukulele and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification, I hope to engage in a variety of environmental and humanitarian projects and through Connvoyage, share with you the places I will see and live, the things I will discover and learn, the people I will encounter and befriend. I want you to experience it with me! On this amazing voyage, I invite you, dear friends and family, avid travelers, adventure seekers, and other sufferers of wanderlust to be my CONNvoy around the world, to lend me support, offer me guidance and join me in whatever capacity you can as I navigate through the wonders of this beautiful place called Earth!

  1. Have uke will travel - that should be your motto. I envy you having been to Petra - that's always been a dream since I was a little girl and got lost inside Frederic Church's painting of it.
Thanks for sharing your journey. Nice to meet you.

  2. Dear Connie,

What an amazing example you have set for us!

There is an old Chinese saying that suggests to become a truly wise person, one should "read thousands of books, and travel hundreds of thousand 'miles'".

We are a family of four with a 10 & 13 year old whom we have homeschooled in the past 7 years. We have always found that they learn the most when we travel, so I believe 'the world is our classroom' and are currently planning a sabbatical year overseas.

I am also interested to learn more about your volunteering experiences you have shared here and hopefully find the right agent to work with.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, please keep writing - love to read all your stories!

    Love, and more love!

Connie (who's born and raised in China and will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this month in the States :))

  4. Connie,
Wow! I just started following your blog a few days ago and I can't stop reading it! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip around the world that will begin (hopefully) June 2012. Do you have any advice on financing the trip? We're trying to get all of the input from fellow-world travelers that we can.

  7. I love your blog! The things you did, the things you're doing are amazing. All the experiences you've had is what I've been striving for.I was not happy with my finance job and was working from 9-9 everyday and had no time for my baby. I was a mess! One day I decided to quit and get my life together. That was 2 years ago. Yeah, it took a little while. I am now planning a RTW trip for me and my kids and your website is such an inspiration!
